Robert Macpherson was brought up in Hampshire, studied Architecture at Kingston University finishing his final part 3 in 1992 at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee University – receiving the highest marks at the time for Professional Practice. With long family ties to Scotland with annual summer holidays in Newtonmore, Inverness-shire and newly married with his wife’s family near Blairgowrie, Perthshire Robert worked in the Aberfeldy practice from 1991 to 1997 learning the fundamentals of building projects from start to finish and rural constraints and practices. To further develop his experience he relocated to Barnes, London to Barnsley Hewett & Mallinson specialising in school projects and residential houses. This included the wholescale refurbishment and building of new accommodation for the ‘Royal Ballet School’, White Lodge in Richmond Park over a period of five years.
